Columbia, SC (WLTX) -- A major storm will slow travel from Maine to Florida as we countdown to Thanksgiving.
An area of low pressure in the Gulf of Mexico will travel northeastward today. This will bring heavy rain into the Midlands late this morning through the afternoon. Some locations could pick up 1 to 2 inches of rain. This will impact travel along I-77, I-20, I-26, and I-95 today. Rain will come to an end in Columbia early Wednesday. Wednesday will be drier, chilly, and very windy with winds up to 25 MPH.
This same storm will bringheavy rain to the East coast andsnow to interior parts of the Mid-Atlantic and Northeast through Wedensday.
If you're traveling through the mountains of North Carolina or up North, be prepared for snow. If you're traveling to cities like New York City, Philadelphia, or Boston, be prepared for soaking rain along I-95through Wednesday.
Dry weather will return to theEast by Thursday.
