Batesburg-Leesville, SC (WLTX) --- The win Friday night over Batesburg-Leesville not only guaranteed the Panthers their first state championship since 2005, it also meant Mary Ames Brown had to bake more cookies for the players.

As the wife of B-L head coach Dr. Jerry Brown, Mary Ames Brown is simply continuing a tradition she started nearly 30 years ago when her husband was running the Spring Valley program. Mrs. Brown created a poster offering to bake cookies for the Viking players if they won the next game. From that moment on, any win with her husband on the sidelines means kitchen detail calls.

Normally, Mrs. Brown gives the team the cookies after a Monday practice but following Friday night's win to end the season, the players enjoyed the tasty snack and cold milk during school hours.
