Columbia, SC (WLTX) -Thousands of soldiers got a special treat from theUSO and the Columbia Metropolitan Airport before heading home for the holidays.

It was all part of the organization's "Holiday Exodus." Volunteers handed out care packages full of snacks for the waiting soldiers.

The soldiers say it's a comforting way to help them wait for their flights home."The USO is an awesome place," said Army Private Jacob Mulder."They just offer all these different sort of treats and pass the time and make you feel comfortable while you sit here waiting. It means a lot."

Over 400 volunteers helped to pack the care packages for the soldiers.
