Elgin, SC (WLTX)-An Elgin woman wants to bring history to life.

Madge Strickland, 80, wrote the book, Sandhills Revelation, last year. Strickland has lived in Elgin for over 60 years, since she was 12-years-old and it has a special place in her heart.

The book is about the history of Blaney/Elgin area dating as far back as the 1700s.

"To me this book is hope for the future," Strickland said.

She said the book has more than 150 pictures, illustrations, and maps.

All the proceeds from the sale of the book will go towards building a new museum in Elgin.

"I feel very proud," Strickland said.

The book is available to purchase at the Elgin Town Hall and costs $40.
