Columbia, SC (WLTX) -A large crowdrallied in downtown Columbia Monday as part of the annual "King Day at the Dome" celebration.

The event, put on annually by the South Carolina NAACP, was held on the front of the South Carolina State House.

King Day pays tribute to the contributions of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. In addition to discussing King's legacy, speakers also called for expanded education access and continuing voting rights.

The event was preceded by a prayer service at Zion Baptist Church on Washington Street. Participants then marked to the State House for the rally.
