Columbia, SC (WLTX) --- Heathwood Hall's A'ja is the top rated high school girls basketball player in the nation by the majority of recruiting services. The Highlander senior is excited about what her future may hold.

Wilson's taken visits to Tennessee, Connecticut and North Carolina. She will use her final visit with the hometown South Carolina Gamecocks.

"It's the most important four or five years of her life," Heathwood Hall girls basketball coach John O'Cain said.

"I just want to play and get that gut feeling that I want to be at that school," Wilson added.

Lots of times, top prospects and those as gifted as Wilson get bored playing against the competition put in front of them. Wilson's teammates, coaches and family have helped keep her maintain a competitive fire.

"You don't become the best recruit in the nation and not be a competitor," O'Cain said.

A local celebrity in Columbia, while attending Gamecock basketball games, Wilson has heard the "We Want A'ja!" chants throughout Colonial Life Arena. Luckily for her, a solid support staff keeps her level headed.

"My family support and my closest friends...they hold me down," Wilson explained. "They knock me back to reality."

Wilson's great self-awareness may also be a byproduct of her own calm demeanor.

"I'm just really chill and laid back," Wilson explained. "Life is too short to be tense."

Her life will change drastically as she will make her college decision following the end of the season. Many coaches and fans will be on high-alert to see where the top player in the country decides to go.
