(WLTX) --- Pelion head coach Ben Freeman has been named the head coach of the South Carolina Shrine Bowl team.
Freeman will lead the Sandlappers in the 78th annual Shrine Bowl of the Carolinas on December 20th at Gibbs Stadium on the campus of Wofford College in Spartanburg.
Thisfall will mark Freeman's 25th year as the head coach at Pelion High School. He spent four years as the head coach at Fairfield Central and one season at Denmark-Olar.
Freeman's Shrine Bowl assistants include Chapin's Justin Gentry and Jeff Calabrese from Hartsville.
A member of the Wake Forest football team in the early 1980's, Freeman is the father of former Clemson All-American center Dalton Freeman who is now with the New York Jets.
