A 29-year-old Greer man has been arrested and charged with murder in the shooting death of a Greenville man while at a party late Monday night, authorities said.

John Mark Cureton III, of 101 Flint Lane, is charged with murder, attempted murder and possession of a weapon during a violent crime, according to warrants.

He is being held at the Greenville County Detention Center without bond, Detention Center records.

Two men were shot during a party outside a mobile home Monday night and one later died.

The incident happened near 5 Luke Lane, authorities said.

Javario Santique Brooks, 22, of 1 Ineeda Drive, Greenville, was pronounced dead at 8:22 a.m. Tuesday, after being injured in a shooting at 10:45 p.m. Monday, according to Greenville County Coroner Parks Evans.

Brooks had been taken to the Greenville Memorial Trauma Center before he died, according to Evans.

Brooks died of a gunshot wound to the abdomen, Evans said.
