Columbia, SC (WLTX) -- Megabus, a low cost bus service, plans to start service in Columbia on February 18. The routes will run to Atlanta, Athens, GA, Fayetteville, NC and Durham, NC.

The Megabus arrival/departure location will be at the Sumter Street Transit Station at 1780 Sumter Street.

Depending on how far in advance travelers plan their trip, rides can be as low as $1. Fares can vary depending on how far in advance you plan, and what day of the week you travel. Tickets can be purchased at megabus.com.

Mike Alvich, VP Of Marketing and Public Relations for Megabus says in a news release,"Customers can travel to these popular destinations in approximately the same amount of time it would take to drive themselves, without the stress of being behind the wheel. They can recline, rest and even sleep, or, if they prefer, keep themselves connected and entertained with free Wi-Fi and power outlets in every seat on our state-of-the-art double-decker buses."

Megabus says each of their buses are wheelchair accessible.
