O'Donnell Industries, a Greenville-based manufacturer of pet beds, travel products and accessories, said Wednesday it is expanding in Greenville County as it grows to serve the European market. The $1.8 million investment is expected to create approximately 39 jobs.
O'Donnell is relocating to a renovated facility on Bessie Road in Piedmont, effectively doubling its manufacturing space to more than 43,000 square feet, South Carolina Department of Commerce officials said.
The move will enable the company to grow domestic sales while expanding into the European market for the first time, the officials said.
The company hopes to move to the location next month.
"The encouragement we have received from our customers, suppliers and employees, along with the accelerating demand we see for our product lines both domestically and internationally, clinched our decision to expand here," said Gary O'Donnell, vice president of marketing for O'Donnell Industries.
"O'Donnell's decision to establish its roots in South Carolina, and continue to grow more than 20 years later, speaks volumes about the entrepreneurial spirit that exists within our state," Gov. Nikki Haley said in a statement.
Beginning as a basement start-up in 1985 by Norman O'Donnell, the company remains family-owned and operated and sells products under both the Snoozer Pet and Restless Tails brand names, along with numerous private label lines for specialty retailers such as PetSmart and Petco.
