Columbia, SC (WLTX) -- The Dorn VA Medical Center in Columbia announced today a laptop containing the personal information of 7,405 Veterans was reported missing and may have been compromised.

According to the release, Dorn will directly notify those Veterans whos personal information was contained in the laptop.

The computer was used in the VA's Respiratory Therapy department to conduct pulmonary function testing since 2006, and was reported missing from a locked testing lab on February 11 of this year.

The report states that the laptop contained personally identifiable information on the hard drive: Name, last four digits of the Social Security number, age (in some cases birthdates,) weight, race, and test results.

The medical center is mailing a letter to all individuals who received testing on the computer, informing them of the risk and offering free credit monitoring services.
