Columbia police say the 2-year-old was found on the side of the street and wasn't hurt.
Columbia, SC ( WLTX) --- A mother was arrested after police say she left her child home alone Friday morning.
Devin S. Timmons, 29, is charged with Unlawful Conduct Toward a Child.
Authorities say Timmons took her 1-year-old with her, and left her 2-year-old sleeping at home around 10:30 Friday morning while her two older children were at school.
A man driving around the 2400 block of Atlas road saw the 2-year-old walking alone on the side of the street. The child did not appear injured, but it was reported that her clothes were wet.
The man picked up the child and drove to Bibleway Church on Atlas Road, where two people there took care of the child until CPD officers arrived.
A deputy who was near the area started to knock on doors around Congaree Point neighborhood, when he found a home with the front door open and was able to locate a photograph of a woman there.
Someone at the church recognized the woman in the picture as Devin Timmons, and officers called her.
Timmons arrived on scene, was questioned about the child found wandering, and arrested. She was transported to the Alvin S. Glenn Detention Center.
