Columbia, SC (WLTX) - Pepsi is shutting down production at its Columbia beverage facility on North Main Street.

A company spokesman told News19 that the work being done there will be moved to other facilities with the company.

While the production operations will stop, other work apparently will continue at the plant. Pepsi says about 250 employees will remain at the facility, while 100 will be let go.

"This difficult decision was made with careful consideration and we're committed to providing support to affected employees by offering outplacement services," the company said in a statement.
