Deputies found a Ford Taurus on fire in a ditch, and they got the driver out, they realized he'd been shot.
Kershaw County, SC (WLTX) --- A man is dead after a motor vehicle crash and shooting in Kershaw county on Saturday morning.
Kershaw County 911 dispatch recieved a call around 5:35 a.m. Saturday about a car crash, and a vehicle on fire. The caller stated that they heard gunshots coming from the area near the crash. It occurred near the intersection of Black River Road and Pathfinder Trailer in Camden.
Deputies arrived at the scene and found a 1999 Ford Taurus in a ditch, on fire with the driver behind the wheel. The deputy attempted to put the fire out, but was not successful. He extracted the driver before it burned.
The driver, Antwan Mario Dixon, 25, was airlifted to Palmetto Richland. It was then discovered that he had been shot in the head.
Investigators began interviewing potential witnesses and individuals who had been with Dixon prior to the shooting.
Several bullet holes were later found in the vehicle, along with multiple shell casings in the road.
Dixon died later Saturday evening as a result from the gunshot wound.
