A couch in the roadway is believed to have triggered a chain reaction that led to the crash.
Kershaw County, SC (WLTX) - A collision between two charter buses blocked traffic on Interstate 20 in Kershaw County for several hours Saturday.
The accident took place around 9 a.m. on I-20 East just past the White Pond Road exit near Elgin.
According to troopers, one of the buses swerved to avoid a couch that was in the road. The second bus also moved to avoid the object, but ran into the back of the first bus.
Almost 100 people were on the two vehicles. We're told there were about 50 injuries, and 8 people had to be taken to the hospital for what are described as minor wounds.
The crash site was not far from Saturday's Carolina Cup in Camden, and the lane blockage impacted traffic to that event for some time.
The roadway was cleared around 1 p.m.
