West Columbia, SC (WLTX) -- Two men were arrested on Friday, March 28th, following the armed robbery of a Charleston Highway convenience store.
According to Lexington County Sheriff Maj. John Allard, Cody Arringer Johnson and Kyntorye Cequel Keith, both 20-years-old and residents of the same Orangeburg address, were arrested by South Carolina Highway Patrol and Calhoun County Sheriff Deputies following a traffic stop on I-26 in Calhoun County. Both face charges of armed robbery, kidnapping, and possessing a weapon during the commission of a violent crime, are being held at the Lexington County Detention Center on $160,000 bail, each.
Another suspect connected to the crime will face the same charges: 21-year-old Jaleel Traytwon Miller of Pelion, who was being held at the Orangeburg-Calhoun Regional Detention Center on unrelated charges, and the Lexington Sheriff's Department has placed a detainer on Miller for these crimes.
Metts said Johnson, Keith, and Miller allegedly robbed an El Cheapo convenience store in the 3800 block of Charleston Highway shortly after 9:00AM Friday, March 28th. The arrest warrants allege the three entered the store with a gun, and Miller held the store clerk at gunpoint while Keith allegedly stole cash and cigarettes. The warrants allege Johnson was driving the vehicle for Keith and Miller.
Soon after the robbery, SCHP troopers conducted a traffic stop on Interstate 26 in Calhoun County, and report that Keith and Miller ran from police by foot. The two were detained a short time later by Calhoun County Deputies.
Detectives recovered the gun used, as well as the money stolen from the store, and received a positive identification of the Keith and Miller from the store clerk that was held against her will.
