Town of Lexington, SC (WLTX) -- The Town of Lexington will be holding an election Tuesday to fill a vacant set on the Town's Council.

The seat was left empty when Danny Frazier resigned in January.

The catch is that the election will be a write-in only election because no candidate had enough signatures to get their name on the ballot.

Instead, voters will need to write the name of their chosen candidate.

Like they have many times over the past 16 years, Mary Fisher and her husband, George Fisher were setting up their Town of Lexington polling place Monday afternoon in preparation for the election.

But Mrs. Fisher said she's never seen a field like this one.

"We always have several candidates for the other elections, but not with write-in votes," she said.

it will be different because instead of selecting names of candidates at machines, voters will have to enter the names of their chosen candidate manually.

"People are not used to doing their write-in votes. Usually the ballot is already listed," Mary Fisher said.

"It's a term from when we used the paper ballots to write-in names, but it's actually just keying it in with a keyboard," said Dean crepes, Director of the Lexington County Registration and Elections Commission.

In total, nine candidates are running as write-ins, and it It will be up to Crepes and his staff to keep it all straight. Because the county switched to electronic machines, the spelling of those names does not factor into the vote.

"As long as we, tomorrow night, can figure out the intent of the voter, that will be counted as an actual vote for that person," Crepes said.

The list of names are:

- Jeremy Addy

- Constance C Flemming

- Keith Frost

- Randy Halfacre

- Rebecca Kennedy

- David Longstreet

- Wattie Warton

- Ron Williams

- Scott Birddog Wilson

You will be able to vote at the following precincts:

- Lex No.' 1 - 4

- Pilgrim Lutheran Church

- Faith Church

- Park Road No. 1

Polls open tomorrow at 7 a.m.
