Chapin, SC (WLTX) -- Packaging Company Signode plans to move into an existing warehouse in Chapin, creating 130 new jobs. The SC Department of Commerce says the company plans to invest $15 million in the facility.

Signode is a manufacturer and distributor or industrial protective packaging systems. The company's products are used to secure items such as cotton bales, newspapers, steel coils and corrugate cartons.

The plant will be located at the former FB Johnston plant at 300 East Boundary Street and will produce a new product line for Signode.

During the first phase of hiring, Signode will add 63 full-time positions.
