LAURENS, S.C. (AP) - A judge has ordered a Laurens County man to spend 40 years in prison for killing his former boss with whom he was living at the time of the shooting.

Prosecutors say a jury found Phillip Hollingsworth guilty of murder on Thursday.

Authorities say Hollingsworth shot 65-year-old Bill Ardis in the head with a shotgun at his home in Waterloo in November 2012.

Investigators say Hollingsworth's girlfriend called deputies several hours later to tell them she saw the shooting.

The victim owned Ardis Roofing and hired Hollingsworth to work with him from time to time.
