Kershaw County, SC (WLTX) -- The Kershaw County Sheriff warns residents against speaking with two men offering pressure-washing door-to-door.

According to the alert, posted on the KCSD Facebook Page, residents are warned that two men are traveling door-to-door, reportedly in a white van, offering pressure washing services, while actually distracting the homeowner so one of them can burglarize the home.

The Sheriff's Department stated that one of the men speaks to the homeowner, and manipulates the conversation to lead the homeowner outside. While this goes on, the remaining man in the van enters the home looking for easily stolen items, including jewelry and money.

The Sheriff advises residents to remember, whenever anyone you personally do not know comes to your door and offers pressure washing, or any other services, do not let them enter your home or lead you in conversation outside your home. You are also advised to tell the person at your door you are not interested in the services they offer, and if possible, get the license number and identifying information about their vehicle.
