Many say Pope John Paul II changed the church.
Sunday, he and Pope John XXIII were canonized by Pope Francis.
Now that he is Saint John Paul II, a Midlands family has an even bigger story to tell about meeting the Pontiff 27 years ago.
Pope John Paul II visited Columbia in September of 1987, a trip perhaps best known for his address at Williams-Brice Stadium. But the Pontiff also visited St. Peter's Catholic Church in downtown Columbia.
Pat Clark was lucky enough to get four tickets to see the Pope at St. Peter's. He took his children--daughter Jennie and son Chris-- along and vowed to find a way to have his children blessed.
In the video attached to this article, Clark tells the story of how it came to be that his children were blessed by a Saint. On Monday at 11 o'clock, his daughter Jennie shares what that blessing meant to her.
