Columbia, SC (WLTX) -- A Richland County Sheriff's Deputy will face charges after running a red light on Friday, subsequently getting into a wreck.

According to South Carolina Highway Patrol spokesperson Trooper David Jones, the deputy, Kenneth Proffitt, will be charged for disregarding a red light.

According to Highway Patrol, the deputy went through the red light at 10:29pm Friday night, while driving an RCSD Ford Crown Victoria, at the corner of Two Notch and Trenholm Roads, and got into a wreck with a 1997 Toyota.

Currently there is no word on the condition of the other driver, though Proffitt was transported by EMS to an area hospital for treatment of unspecified injuries.
