CLINTON, S.C. (AP) - Authorities say a 60-year-old woman was stabbed to death inside her home in Clinton.

Laurens County Coroner Nick Nichols says Debra Malone likely died Wednesday morning. A friend found her body Thursday afternoon.

Nichols says an autopsy on Friday shows Malone died of multiple stab wounds to the chest, back and neck and blunt force trauma to the head.

Laurens County Sheriff Ricky Chastain says it appears there was a struggle, but the attacker was able to easily overpower the victim. He says Malone lived alone.

Chastain called the State Law Enforcement Division to investigate.
