Lugoff, SC (WLTX) -- An Elgin woman was arrested Tuesday night following an attack on a man and woman with a knife.
Deputies responded to a call of an apparent fight at a Lugoff hotel, and found one victim had been stabbed, and another already had been transported to an area hospital for treatment of a knife cut.
Sheriff Jim Matthews says that Kershaw Sheriff Deputies had been called to the Camden West Inn earlier Tuesday in response to an altercation involving one of the victims and the suspect, 29-year-old Brandie Hughes of Elgin.
Deputies say Hughes and the male victim had been living at the hotel until they were evicted following the earlier altercation. The two apparently returned to the hotel Tuesday evening to collect personal belongings, and ran into the female victim, along with another unidentified male.
A fight began between Hughes and the female victim, and officers say Hughes produced a knife and stabbed the female victim and cut the male victim, who got in the middle trying to break up the fight.
The male victim was transported to an area hospital for treatment and was released, while the female victim was transported by air ambulance to be treated for her non-life-threatening stab wound.
Deputies later placed Hughes under arrest at Kershaw Health, charging her with one count of Assault and Battery of a High and Aggravated Nature, and one count of second degree Assault and Battery.
Hughes was transported to the Kershaw County Detention Center, where she awaits a bond hearing.
In an item not directly related to the fight, deputies report that when they arrived at the scene and a weapon was involved, they frisked several individuals at the location, and arrested 23-year-old Ryan Braxton for possession of crack cocaine with intent to distribute. Braxton is also being held at the Kershaw County Detention Center.
