Kershaw County deputies say they may have a lead on a Camden shooting that left one man dead.

"There were shell casings strewn down the road," Kershaw County Sheriff Jim Matthews said.

A small memorial stands on the side of Black River Road and Pathfinder Trail in Camden. Saturday around 5:35 a.m., Kershaw County deputies received a call.

"The car was backed up in a ditch, kind of up on an embankment and it was on fire and the occupant, which was the driver, was still in the vehicle," Matthews said.

Sheriff Jim Matthews said a deputy rescued the driver. But, shortly after being airlifted , 25-year-old Antwan Mario Dixon died from a bullet in his head.

"Investigators, after the car cooled down and so forth, investigators found a couple bullet holes in the vehicle and it appeared that the driver's side window had been shot out," he said.

Matthews said there is no suspect, but there is a person of interest.

"The angle that we're kind of going on is that there was an altercation between the two men earlier," Matthews said. "Now, that doesn't necessarily mean that the man that the victim was arguing with did it, but we would like to talk to him."

Matthews has not named the person of interest, but has notified Sumter deputies and SLED to be on the look out for the individual.
