Richland County, SC (WLTX) - Richland County deputies have arrested a woman wanted in connection with the murder of her husband in Texas.

Sheriff Leon Lott says his fugitive task force arrested 47-year-old Gloria Aiken Tuesday at her home near Irmo.

Lott says his department was contacted by Ellis County, Texas for help in tracking down Aiken. She'd been indicted on May 7th for the 2008 killing of her common-law husband. Investigators say shortly after he was reported missing, the man's body parts were found in different locations across Texas.

Lt. Mike Hopson with the Ennis Police Department says Aiken was considered a suspect in the murder from the beginning, but processing the evidence and presenting the case to the Ellis County District Attorney took quite some time.

Lt. Hopson says once they were able to finalize the case to be presented, Aiken was indicted not long after.

Officials say Aiken had previously worked as a jailer with the Ellis County Sheriff's Office and was also formerly employed by the Texas Department of Criminal Justice.

She was currently working security in Richland County, but Lt. Hopson says his department doesn't know what company she was employed by.

Aiken waived extradition and will be brought back to Texas soon for prosecution.
