Columbia, SC (WLTX) - Columbia police have arrested a burglary suspect they say fell through a ceiling while trying to get away from them.
Thomas Lashort Bullock, 25, is facing two counts of second-degree burglary, petit larceny, first-degree assault and battery, grand larceny, and malicious injury to property.
Thursday morning, officers tracked Bullock to a home on Doctors Circle. While trying they were outside the home, officers say he left the place, then broke through a neighbor's ceiling to try and avoid officers. He was not seriously hurt in the fall.
Officers also charged 22-year-old Lakendra Shaneiko Blakney with harboring a fugitive, because they say she refused to open the door to the home where Bullock was staying when officers arrived.
Bullock was wanted for two different burglaries that took place this week. In the first case, police accused him of forcing his way into a North Main Street grocery store, punching an employee, then stealing $7,000 worth of lottery scratch-off tickets. Officers say he also targeted another North Main business, taking tvs and other electronics.
Police say he is a possible suspect in three other burglaries.
Bond for Bullock has been set at $80,000.
