Winnsboro, SC (WLTX) -- Winnsboro police tell News19 that a man wanted in a July 4th murder case has been arrested in Rochester, New York.
36-year-old LaTroy Dante Sampson was arrested early Friday morning after police in Rochester received a call about a suspicious person. Officers say Sampson was carrying a gun and admitted that he was wanted for murder in South Carolina.
Winnsboro police say he strangled 34 year old Jennifer Monique Stone on July 4th at a South Garden Street home. Stone was a mother of five children. One of her sons says he was also assaulted by Sampson earlier on the same day as the murder.
Winnsboro Public Safety and SLED are working to bring Sampson back to South Carolina to face charges.
They hope to have him back here in the next couple of days.
