Richland County, SC (WLTX) - Richland County deputies are looking for a man they say tried to rob a gas station with a large knife.

Around 2:30 a.m. on July 26th, the suspect came into the Kangaroo Express on Broad River Road. Sheriff Leon Lott says the suspect pretended to buy an item, but once the cash register was opened, he pulled out the weapon.

Surveillance video shows the man waving the weapon around, then trying to reach into the cash register. The store clerk was able to close the register before he could get the money, then ran to the back of the store for safety.

The suspect then left the store.
