Kershaw County, SC (WLTX) - Kershaw County deputies say a suspect broke into a convenience store, taking cigarettes and smokeless tobacco from the business.

Officers say Monday morning, deputies got a call that someone had broken into the Cassatt Country Store and had stolen the items.Surveillance video from the crime gave officers a clear image of the suspect, who officers recognized as being 22-year-old Kelrick Wayne Richards, who was out on probation for a previous burglary.

Investigators say Richards came to the sheriff's office voluntarily, but denied taking the items.

Later, investigators went to Richards' home, where his mother gave officers permission to search the place. Once they did, officers say they recovered the stolen cigarettes and the clothing worn during the burglary.
