Richland County, SC (WLTX) - Richland County deputies have upgraded the charges against a suspect to murder after the victim in the case died.

Richland County Sheriff Leon Lott says his officers are trying to find 26-year-old Stanley Jones, who he says has committed several violent crimes in multiple areas.

The murder charge stems from a shooting back on February 4th on Brookfield Road. Investigators say Jones and an unknown person kicked in the door of the home and shot the victim in the upper body. The victim was hospitalized for several weeks, but passed away Tuesday.

According to Lott, it wasn't the only time this year Jones struck a home. Investigators say Jones broke into a home on Woodbranch Road on January 9th and took items.

Lott also said Jones is responsible for pulling a knife on an employee at a Dollar General on Two Notch Road on February 15th and robbing the store, as well as robbing three other businesses in Columbia in February.

At the time of all these incidents, Lott says Jones was on bond following an arrest for armed robbery in Forest Acres.
