Columbia, SC (WLTX) - Columbia police have arrested a suspect in connection with a shooting over the Mother's Day weekend.

Charles James Byrd Jr., 20, is charged with murder and possession of a weapon during a violent crime.

Around 1 a.m. on May 11th, officers say Byrd fired several shots inside a home on Cody Street. The gunfire killed a man inside, Marcus Kennedy, and injured a woman.

The woman is expected to survive.

Byrd was spotted Wednesday morning by two off-duty Columbia police officers who recognized him as the suspect, called for backup, and arrested him.

Police say they're working to identify another possible shooting suspect.
