Lexington County, SC (WLTX) - Lexington County deputies say a man broke into a church, taking a vehicle and other items.
Berry William Prew, 49, is charged with one count of second-degree burglary, two counts of third-degree burglary, and two counts of grand larceny.
Officers say between May 6 and May 11, Prew broke into Redeemer Lutheran Church on St. Andrews Road. Investigators say he took at 1999 GMC van with a cab, keys to the church, a desktop computer, and cash.
Prew was discovered at the church again on Monday by the pastor, who said Prew ate food and went to sleep there. According to the pastor, the man ran off after he confronted him. Officers were able to catch up with Prew along St. Andrews Road.
The van was eventually found outside a hotel in Charleston.
Investigators also believe Prew stole jewelry, electronics, and a Toyota Camry from a home on Windy Run Drive back in April. Officers were able to recover that vehicle as well.
