Columbia, SC (WLTX) - Columbia police arrested a suspect they say shot another man late Monday night.

Officers have charged 33-year-old Danquan Antonio Fanning with attempted murder, possession of a firearm by person convicted of a violent felony, and possession of a stolen weapon.

Around 10 p.m., a police officer heard gunshots in the 4800 block of James Street. The officer ran toward the sound, and found the victim stumbling toward him with a gunshot wound.

The victim was taken to the hospital for treatment. His injuries are described as non life-threatening.

Witnesses reported seeing Fanning run from the scene, and officers were able to catch him a short time later.

Police say the motive is still unclear, but they don't believe this was a random act.
