Columbia, SC (WLTX) -- Thanks to a tip called in to Midlands CrimeStoppers, a sex offender that failed to register with local law enforcement is back behind bars tonight.
An alert citizen spotted 24-year-old Ronnie Ashford Jr. after the Midlands community was asked to assist in locating him was put out by Midlands CrimeStoppers in June.
The Richland County Sheriff's Department Fugitive Task Force was given an address on Marlboro St. in Columbia by the CrimeStoppers tipster, and the Task Force placed Ashford under arrest.
That location was a family member's home, and at the time of his arrest, Ashford was in possession of a stolen vehicle from the City's jurisdiction.
Ashford faces an outstanding bench warrant, charges for failure to register as a sex offender, and additional charges with the City of Columbia,
