Columbia, SC (WLTX) -- Investigators into a fatal shooting on Ervin Street in Columbia Tuesday afternoon has identified a suspect.

According to Columbia's Police Chief, Skip Holbrook, 35 year-old Christopher Demetric Robinson was identified as the man arguing with the victim prior to the shooting incident.

Columbia P.D. has issued arrest warrants for Robinson, who is wanted for Murder and Possession of a Weapon During A Violent Crime.

According to witnesses that spoke with responding officers, the victim was visiting the location, when the argument with Robinson began, and Robinson then allegedly shot that person several times, and then left, apparently on foot, with an unidentified female.

A Columbia Police Officer on regular patrol was flagged down by someone near the location just after the shooting incident, and that Officer reported discovering a number of people trying to give aid to the shooting victim. That Officer then requested EMS.

Columbia Police believe this was not a random act, and the shooting victim and suspect were acquainted.

Chief Holbrook said "This deadly shooting happened at a time when communities celebrated National Night Out. This crime should serve as a reminder why violence won't be tolerated. Residents provided information to Investigators because they want criminals to be held accountable for their actions."
