Orangeburg, SC (WLTX) - South Carolina State University has received a $100,000 gift from one of the school's alumnus.

Trial attorney Kenneth Ravenell, a 1981 graduate of the school, made the donation Tuesday, saying he wanted to give back to the school that helped him build the foundation to his successful career.

The money will certainly help the school which is almost out of money. Last month, the Budget and Control Board voted to give the university a $6 million loan. The school had requested a nearly $14 million bailout from the state.
