Richland County, SC (WLTX) - Richland County Coroner Gary Watts wants to stop a deadly trend for babies.

Since 2012, there have been 435 infants who died statewide while they slept.

Watts says many child fatalities are directly related to unsafe sleep practices, and his office is launching a new program to help.
the campaign is called "Sleep Right Through the Night." It's meant to educate parents and caregivers about safe sleep practices.

The committee is sending out video messages to hospitals and hopes to spread the word across the state. To learn more, or to sign up, just contact the Richland Coroner's Office at (803) 576-1799
