Columbia, SC (WLTX) - The South Carolina State Fair "Ride of Your Life" Scholarship Program has set March 14th as the deadline for 2014 scholarship applications.

This is the 17th year the SC State Fair has awarded scholarships totaling $300,000 each year to high school students across South Carolina. The program provides each of the 50 selected student applicants with $1,500 per year for up to four years to help pay to go to school at a South Carolina university, college, or technical college.

"This goes to the very heart of our mission: educating South Carolina's young adults," said State Fair General Manager Gary Goodman. "The cost of a quality education is high, but the cost of being denied the chance for an education is even higher. We're committed to helping aspiring high school students continue on to college and realize their potential for the future."

Any high school senior in South Carolina is eligible to apply to be a State Fair Scholar by visiting scstatefair.org/scholarships and clicking the link to the application. A completed application, official school transcripts, a current photograph, and an essay on his or her South Carolina educational experience is required.

Fully completed applications must be postmarked by March 14th, and the State Fair Scholars will be notified in early May.
