Columbia, SC (WLTX) - The City of Columbia Water Works has issued a Boil Water Advisory for an area in Richland County.
The advisory applies to customers in the following areas:
- Benedict Street, between Christian Street and Gabriel Street; and,
- Christian Street, between Benedict Street and Luke Street.
Customers in these areas are asked to vigorously boil their water for at least one full minute prior to drinking or cooking. Also, any residents around this area who lost water and/or water pressure are also advised to boil their water. Any ice made from water that has not been boiled should not be used for drinking purposes.
The City of Columbia says they experienced a six inch water main break, that could result in bacterial contamination of the water. They are working to correct the issue.
Customers in this area should boil their water until further notice. If you have questions about this Boil Water Advisory, you are asked to contact the City of Columbia Customer Care Call Center at (803) 545-3300.
