Columbia, SC (WLTX) - The group Citizens For Better Government says after allegations made by the former director of the Richland County Elections Office, an investigation must be done.

"We think it has not happened at this point because people are protecting and hiding something," said Michael Letts with Citizens For A Better Government. "We feel this will hopefully generate an outcry as there has been in the past to demand action from our elected officials and require that an independent investigation be done."

Letts lost a Columbia City Council race in 2012 and since then has asked for the investigation. He still believes the 2012 election results are flawed.

"We have stated publicly that if an investigation did not occur, we would once again have problems with our election process," Letts said. "That has proven to be the fact. We're horrified at what we've seen come out this last day, and reiterates if we don't get someone to stand up and request an investigation who has jurisdiction over this matter, we're destined again to failure in the election process."
