Columbia, SC (WLTX) The city of Columbia has issued a boil water advisory for Lexington county.

Water customers in Saluda Shoals area of Guild Hall drive from Nursery Road to Stamford bridge road should boil their water for at least one minute prior to drinking or cooking.

A break in a six-inch water main is the cause for the advisory.

The break could possibly result in bacterial contamination of the water in this area. Water customers should vigorously boil their water for at least one minute prior to drinking or cooking until otherwise notified by the City of Columbia water works. If you live near these areas and lost water and/or water pressure you are also advised to follow the same steps. Any ice mad from water that has not been boiled should not be used for drinking purposes.

The City of Columbia Water Works is currently working to correct the problem.

If you have any questions or concerns you should call the City of Columbia Customer Care Call Center at 545-3300.
