Columbia, SC (WLTX) - A car crash led to a vehicle hitting the front of the Richland County Library's downtown Columbia location Wednesday.

Columbia police say just before noon, a Buick Lesabre and a Mitsubishi Outlander collided near the intersection of Hampton and Assembly Streets.

The Buick then went out of the intersection, drove up the sidewalk, and hit the entrance of the library, causing the glass in the doorway to shatter.

The vehicle involved appears to have sustained heavy damage to the front.

The drivers of both vehicles were taken to the hospital. Columbia Police cited the Buick driver for disregarding a red light.
