Howard Jackson met with agents for about an hour and provided them with documents.
Columbia, SC (WLTX) - The fired head of the Richland County elections agency met with State Law Enforcement Division agents Wednesday.
SLED spokesman Thom Berry said Howard Jackson spoke with them for about an hour. Jackson provided materials to agents, and Berry said they also requested additional materials from him.
Monday, the Richland County Elections Commission Board voted 4-1 to fire Jackson after just eight months on the job. The next day, Jackson sharply criticized the board, which he said asked him to follow "unlawful orders" and tried to override his personnel decisions. Jackson said the information he would give SLED would back up his claims.
Berry says agents will review the materials with the 5th Circuit Solicitor to determine if they will conduct an investigation.
