Columbia, SC (WLTX) -- A sign pointing visitors to the South Carolina "Govenor's Mansion" has now been taken down after News19 asked city officials about who made an embarrassing spelling error. The sign was placed near the mansion and the federal court house. It spells "Govenor's Mansion" in one line, but right underneath it spells Governor's Green Gardens correctly.

A man visiting Columbia from Virginia pointed out the mistake and emailed the photo to News19.

We asked City Manager Teresa Wilson about the sign. She says the sign was put up about 10 years ago. Wilson says the city did not put it up, but will take ownership and get it corrected.

News19 went back to the location this afternoon, and the sign has been taken down.
