Columbia, SC (WLTX) - The three-year-old grandnephew of Columbia Fire Chief Aubrey Jenkins is on life support after a DUI-related car collision.

Josiah Jenkins and his mother were hurt around 10 p.m. Friday night on North Springs Road.

According to the highway patrol, Jenkins' mother was driving down the road when her car was hit by a vehicle driven by 43-year-old Lonnie Gross. Both the mother and Jenkins were taken to the hospital for treatment. Gross has been charged with felony DUI with great bodily injury and driving under suspension.

Chief Jenkins says his relatives were on their way to get pizza when the collision happened. He said his grandnephew is on life support and is breathing with the help of a ventilator. His mother has been released from the hospital.
