Blythewood, SC (WLTX) - Governor Nikki Haley toured a Department of Motor Vehicles office Monday morning.

She visited the office on Wilson Boulevard in Blythewood to thank them for the job that they do, and strides they've made over the last several years.

"This is a thankless job sometimes, and we just want them to know how much they're appreciated," she said.

The agency's director, Kevin Shwedo, joined Haley on the tour, and said the DMV has worked hard to improve services in the past two years, including reducing wait times.

"[DMV managers] looked at system approaches to go ahead and leverage technology to reduce wait lines and then we worked with key stakeholders who helped us get those wait times down," Scwedo says.

Wait times at the DMV are down to about eight minutes on average.
