More than $4,000 dollars raised for Kennedy family since the March 26th fatal accident.

Columbia, SC (WLTX)- Two weeks ago a fatal accident left two boys without a mother.

45-year-old Mandy Kennedy was killed on March 26th. Columbia Police say she was riding her bike down Rosewood Drive when she was hit by a car. A small memorial sits outside of Kyra Strasburg's yoga studio.

"The first thing I thought when I saw the bike was someone's mom or dad may not be coming home for dinner," said Strasburg.

Kennedy leaves behind two boys and her husband who is handicapped.

"We've been working with this family for a few years and when we heard the tragic news we knew we had to do something," said B-Linda Rogers. Rogers is the parent community liason for Hand Middle School where the two kids attend school, she says everything from food to bikes have been delivered to the Kennedy home.

"It is truly a time when the entire community has come together," said Rogers.

A trust fund has been set up to assist the family with the funeral and to provide them with a little money for expenses in the short term.
