Columbia, SC (WLTX) - Richland School District One Superintendent Dr. Percy Mack will retire.

Mack announced Wednesday he'll step down at the end of June.

"It's just one of those things that you know when," Mack said.

Mack has been superintendent of the district since July of 2008. He'd previously served as a school superintendent in Dayton, Ohio, just one of the education jobs he's held in a 42-year-long career.

Under his leadership, Richland One launched a program aimed at improving student achievement, parental involvement, and public policy.
