Suspects are accused of robbing a T-Mobile store and assaulting store employees
Orangeburg, SC (WLTX) Two suspects are in custody in connection to an armed robbery in St. Matthews early Friday morning.
Sheriff Leroy Ravenell say the crime took place at the T-Mobile store around 11:16 a.m. According to the sheriff, the suspects assaulted three store employees, robbed them at gunpoint, and bound them with duct tape.
Investigators were able to track the suspects to a motel in Columbia. Columbia Police and Richland County deputies helped arrest the pair.
"These thugs went through a great deal of planning and expensive to come from Columbia to Orangeburg County to steal and abuse law abiding citizens," Ravenell said in a statement. "If they put that much effort into being productive citizens, they wouldn't be sitting in jail right now."
According to Orangeburg county sheriff's media director, Keisa Gunby, the suspects names will be released once warrants have been obtained. Charges are expected to be armed robbery, assault, kidnapping and felony possession of a weapon.
